It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available. Moreover, check with our website as often as possible in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.

That being said, download the driver, apply it on your system, and enjoy your newly updated graphics card. Therefore, get the package (extract it if necessary), run the setup, follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful installation, and make sure you reboot the system so that the changes take effect.

When it comes to applying this release, the installation steps should be a breeze, as each manufacturer tries to make them as easy as possible so that each user can update the GPU on their own and with minimum risks (however, check to see if this download supports your graphics chipset).

It can improve the overall graphics experience and performance in either games or various engineering software applications, include support for newly developed technologies, add compatibility with newer GPU chipsets, or resolve different problems that might have been encountered. While installing the graphics driver allows the system to properly recognize the chipset and the card manufacturer, updating the video driver can bring about various changes. Choose to select the location of the new driver manually and browse to the folder where you downloaded the driver About Graphics Drivers: Right click on the hardware device you wish to update and choose Update Driver Softwareģ. Go to Device Manager (right click on My Computer, choose Manage and then find Device Manager in the left panel)Ģ. In order to manually update your driver, follow the steps below (the next steps):ġ. for support of AMD Radeon HD 6310 Series. With your kernel version the kmod-catalyst of above guide should work (until you change your kernel version someday).

I have no idea if 3D and 2D acceleration is already ok for your card, it's only about 1 year old.

But it's safer to install Fedora 16, instead to mix Fedora 14 and Fedora 16. But then with instead of fedora-release-rawhide-15-0.3.noarch.rpm. Otherwise if you want to keep Fedora 14 you could maybe try it like this (link). Best would be to install the current Fedora 16 RC 5 then or wait on the final stable release, if you want to test the newer default (non-proprietary) drivers. If you don't need high framerates in advanced 3D games, you could probably have less issues with the free Radeon driver of Fedora 16. So I think you don't have to read this thread, but maybe you can find some interesting information there too. Well this thread you mentioned is already almost 1 year old. The proprietary driver of this guide is based on Catalyst 10.9. So if the module is built correctly via akmod-catalyst, this is the better option, but in my experience this does not always work. And with kmod-catalyst package it installs a kernel module for one particular fedora kernel version (example for Fedora 14, currently supported by kmod-catalyst: 2.6.35.14), but if you update your kernel it will not built the necessary modules. If you install akmod package it should built the necessary kernel modules at every kernel update (but it could fail sometimes). If it ever does not boot into the graphical login manager, you can add 3 to the kernel boot line to reinstall it.īefore you install it again, you should deinstall it first (either excecute the file below /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh or use the appropriate aticonfig command, probably 'aticonfig -uninstall' or similar)įollow this guid (link) to install either akmod-catalyst or kmod-catalyst. Make sure that you install gcc, kernel-headers and kernel-devel before (the versions should match with your used kernel).Įvery time there is a xorg-server or kernel update you will have to reinstall this driver. Well you can remove the packages you installed in this guide (except the new kernel) and then try the *.run driver from the site.

Did you reboot into the new kernel after the installation of the update of the kernel? Hm I don't know why it doesn't work for you.

Please install the ATI driver appropriate for you ATI hardware, or configure using aticonfig." No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. I update my kernel to -2.6.35.11-83 and I tried to instal and follow guide instead until it finish but when i tried to open Ati Catalyst Control center i got warning " There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition.
